In 2022, Maryland created a licensing requirement for onsite wastewater system inspectors conducting a property transfer inspection in the state of Maryland. This licensing requirement stipulates that inspectors successfully complete approved training.

In prior years, PSMA’s inspector certification program has been recognized by Maryland. However, with the new licensing requirements, PSMA had to develop supplemental training addressing unique aspects of Maryland’s rules & regulations.

PSMA’s Education Committee has finalized a supplemental endorsement course for PSMA-certified inspectors who are seeking a Maryland license. This supplemental class has been submitted to Maryland’s Dept of Environment (MDE) for review as meeting their Property Transfer Inspector licensing requirements.

Once approved by MDE, PSMA will offer this on-demand, online class as an endorsement to your existing PSMA inspector certification. In total, this supplemental class should take approximately 3 hours to complete – 2 hours of online training & 1 hour for the in-person test.

Successful completion results in an endorsement to your existing PSMA inspector certification & ability to apply for your Maryland license.
