This full-day training will focus on the essential safety protocols and regulatory requirements for confined space entry within the onsite wastewater treatment industry. Working in confined spaces, such as septic tanks, pump chambers, and holding tanks, poses significant risks, including toxic atmospheres, limited oxygen, and physical hazards. Proper training and preparation are critical to ensuring the safety of all personnel involved. Topics will include identifying confined spaces, understanding the hazards associated with each type of entry, and implementing safety measures such as atmospheric testing, ventilation, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). We’ll also cover OSHA standards for confined space entry, the roles of personnel (entrant, attendant, and supervisor), and the importance of an emergency response plan. Real-world case studies will highlight the consequences of inadequate safety measures and the benefits of rigorous protocols. This presentation provides the tools and knowledge necessary to conduct safe, compliant confined space entries in septic system work. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of the risks involved, the regulatory requirements, and best practices for maintaining a safe work environment when entering confined spaces. 6 PSMA SR1 CEUs.
